The main objective of this research was to determine the influence that the use of PET fibers has on the bearing capacity (CBR) of the subgrade for the design of the flexible pavement of Alto Trujillo - neighborhood I in the city of Trujillo. 8 open pit explorations (pits) were carried out at a distance of 500 m from each other with a depth of 2m in which 1 unique stratum was found in each pits made. Characterization tests were carried out for soil classification purposes according to SUCS and AASHTO. Compaction tests were carried out on each sample, because the soil is SP (poorly graded sand), the maximum and minimum density test was carried out to determine the maximum compaction density. The same method was used when the samples were mixed with PET in different amounts (2.5%, 5% and 7.5%). After obtaining the values of the densities of maximum compaction, the CBR tests of the 8 pits were carried out with the aforementioned amounts of PET. Thus reaching the conclusion that the best CBR index value was obtained when the soil was mixed with 2.5% PET, obtaining an average value of 22.4%, thus achieving an increase of 59.1% of the CBR with respect to the value obtained from the soil pattern.
